I will start by saying, if you are a blogger and not using tailwind, well… you should be.. for real! Try it here for free! (First 100 pins are free.)
Tailwind is a fabulous tool for bloggers, especially mom bloggers! While you are dealing with the tantrum your 3 year old is throwing because he doesn’t want the banana he was just begging you for.. tailwind is working away scheduling your pins to Pinterest. What mom has the time to manually pin all of those pins? I sure don’t!
Tailwind is awesome and I will tell you why!
When I first started blogging I heard that the secret to Pinterest was automation and that tailwind was the way to go when it came to scheduling pins. So I signed up for the free trial of tailwind, it was nice being able to schedule a few pins and have them pinned for me but I was not seeing any drastic change with my blog or Pinterest.
Until I figured out how to use tailwind. In order to get the most out of tailwind you will need to upgrade from the trial version.
One night something clicked.. pin more, like a lot more. So thats what I did. I went from pinning 3-5 times a day to pinning 70-80 times a day. I immediately saw my traffic increase!
Huge jump in traffic
Wow! Why did I not do this sooner? do not follow my mistakes, start using tailwind right now.
Even if you are brand new to blogging, or have a small blog, tailwind is still an extremely helpful tool! My proof is below. The first picture is before tailwind and the second is after.
As you can see I barely had anyone looking at my pins until I started using tailwind. Now I am not only seeing more traffic through Pinterest, I am also seeing more traffic on my blog!
Using Tailwind to its full traffic boosting potential
A few things to do to get the most out of Tailwind and what makes tailwind so awesome!
- You can get unlimited pins for $9.99 a month (billed annually)
- Its approved by Pinterest
- Saves you so much time pinning
- shuffle queue
- interval pinning
- tailwind tribes
Scheduling your pins
First of all you will want to set up your schedule. Not sure when the best time to pin is? Thats ok Tailwind has you covered! Below is my tailwind schedule, as you can see on Mondays I have 75 pins set to pin.
The outlined time slots are ones that tailwind suggests, you can select those time slots by simply clicking on the time.
The grey boxes are ones that I choose my self by clicking the blue add time slot button.
The green colored boxes are the time slots tailwind chose for me. They represent the best times to pin to see the best outcome of viewers.
Will save you loads of time, especially if you regularly pin to multiple boards. Board lists allows you to group the boards that pin often into one list.
So instead of taking forever to select each board, all you do is click one and you are done. I especially love this option for pinning my own pins to the group boards I am on.
The group board list is the one I use for my own pins. I also post other pins to the boards from time to time.
The blogging list is the one I use for most other pins I’m pinning.
The possibilities are limitless when it comes to your board lists, so let your creative side shine.
Another great asset of Tailwind is Tailwind tribes, which is currently free to anyone even if you don’t have a Tailwind account. Basically it is a community of bloggers that share their content for repins.
There is a tribe for all types of niches, you are sure to find one that suits your blog. You should also be able to schedule a lot of your pins from your tribe.
That reach though.. 18k!
The interval function allows you to pin the same pin to different boards at different times so you aren’t pinning them back to back.
This function is super easy to use. Pick the pins you would like to pin, select the boards where you want them to go then, hit the use interval button.
If you post the same pin to multiple boards and choose not to use the interval option you can just hit that shuffle button and everything gets shuffled around (excluding locked pins).
You can also drag and drop your pins to the time slot of your choosing, both are effective ways to move your pins around.
Scheduling like a pro
I suggest taking few hours a week and dedicate that to scheduling all of your pins for that week. There is no reason to invest in a scheduling service to let your queue lapse. That way you are sure to get the most out of tailwind and that is one less thing to worry about during your busy week.
Consistency is key so its important to stay consistent with which day you choose for your scheduling day. I choose to take a few hours each Sunday to fill my queue.
I’m pretty sure I already mentioned this, but just incase. Tailwind offers an awesome free trial; your first 100 pins are completely FREE!
If you aren’t already using tailwind sign up here and start growing your blog almost immediately after setting everything up!
With that said, that’s all!
I truly hope this helps you explode your blog traffic! If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment!
