Hiking Lanikai Pilboxes With A Baby
Living in Hawaii tends to make one feel adventurous.. maybe a little to adventurous! I had seen multiple times how awesome the views were at the top of Lanikai and I just had to go see for myself. I convinced my husband and off we went! We knew it would get hot quickly and I had read there was no shade so we made plans to get there early. We drove the 45 minutes to the East side of the Island, found road side parking, loaded the kids into their carriers and off we went!
Hiking To The Top
The entrance to the hike was a little steep for taste while carrying my baby. We took it slow and made our way to the top.The path to the top was narrow and a little rocky, in some spots there wasn’t very good footing. I personally wouldn’t recommend taking babies on this hike, unless you are a experienced hiker. Don’t make my mistake and take your two month old and not be able to make it all the way to the top. Trust me you want to enjoy those beautiful views.
My husband had no problem hauling our 3 year old. My son loved it and some spots would have been safe for him to walk, although we chose to keep him in the carrier. He is a bit of a wild soul and it easier to keep that beast caged in situations such as these.
This is a great hike without baby. Make sure to arrive early bring lots of water and sunscreen. Find road side parking and be respectful to the residents near the entrance of the hike. It was less than a mile from where we parked to the start of the hike.
Mahalo for reading my post! If you enjoyed this check back later for more hiking adventures.
