Kid Friendly Oahu Part 2
Hey Guys! I am back for part two of Kid friendly things on Oahu! If you haven’t already, you can Check out part one here! In part two I share more activities for families to enjoy on Oahu! So if you are booking your trip to Oahu with your little ones and you’re wondering what to do that everyone will enjoy you’re in the right place.
Is a great beach for families with little kids. The waves are small and the water is shallow, the water and sand is always clear of debris. There are 4 different lagoons to choose from, all of them are really nice and have parking, bathrooms, and showers. Umbrellas and tents are not allowed, but they do have nice grassy areas that are pretty well shaded. This is my son’s favorite place to play in the sand and swim!
Hawaiian Railway Society
Is a historical train ride on the south side of the Island. It is a hour and a half train ride with a tour guide to tell you all about the history of the railway. They only run the train on Saturdays and Sundays, so it fills up fast. It gets hot while waiting so bring plenty of water and sun screen. The train cars are open so there is a nice breeze while moving and the views are nice! Our three year old loved the train ride so its perfect for small kids, older kids will enjoy too. Don’t forget to check out the train museum while you are there. You can check out their website here for more information and pricing.
Everybody loves the zoo! The zoo offers a nice variety of animals and beautiful scenery. They also have a playground and petting zoo which was a big hit for our son. As like most places in Hawaii it gets hot, so bring plenty of water and sun screen! You can check out their website here for more information.
Is on the smaller side when it comes to aquariums. Definitely not what you will find on the mainland but they have beautiful fish and sea creatures and will be a big hit for the kids. It’s not very expensive and is a great place to stop while in Waikiki with the kids. They have street parking across from aquarium but don’t forget your quarters for the meters. You can check out their website here for information. (picture coming soon!)
Wet ‘N’ Wild Water Park
Is located on the west side of the island in Kapolei. Wet N Wild is like most water parks, they have a nice lazy river, plenty of large water slides, and a large area for the smaller kids. They have picnic tables and a cafe where they serve hot dogs and hamburgers. The food is a little pricey but tasty. My three year old loves this place, we have to drag him out when its time to leave! So if your looking for a water park on Oahu this is the one.. literally the only one. Check out their website here for more information. (picture coming soon!)
Sea Life Park
Is a great place to swim with the dolphins and learn lots fun things about different sea creatures. My husband and I took our son to swim with the dolphins when he was 2… long story short he was scared to death and my husband had to take him out of the water. So I was the only one that had any fun that day. Anyways, they have different types of packages you can choose for swimming with the dolphins and all of them are decently priced. Overall it is a fun place and the drive there is absolutely beautiful! Check out their website here for more information. (picture coming soon!)
A nice paved walk through a garden-like setting with lots of Hawaiian culture and reading material along the way. Once you reach the end there is a waterfall and swimming area that you can enjoy. They charge a fee to enter the garden but it is a great experience over all and worth it to learn about the Hawaiian culture. The kids will probably enjoy swimming at the end more than the literature. Check out their website here for directions and pricing. (picture coming soon!)
Childrens Discovery Center
I personally have not been to the Childrens museum on the island yet. My husband took my son and they had a wonderful time, there are so many different activities for kids of all ages. This would be a great rainy day activity. Check out their website here for more information and pricing.
